仕事の生息域
今日は、打ち合わせ三昧でした。ここのところ「提案が勝負」といった場面が非常に多いです。ライブ感のある打ち合わせばかりで、一発勝負みたいなシーンによく出くわします。まるで、毎日がボス戦です。むしろ、それしか必要とされていないんじゃないか？と思うほど。
今、世の中はたいていのことが「代替え」が利きやすくなっていると感じており、周りを見渡すと日に日に仕事の「生息域」が少なくなってきていると痛感します。3-5年後の未来も今の状態が維持されている業種はいったいどれだけ残されているのだろうか？と、頭をよぎる日は少なくありません。
稀代の冒険家に倣う
ただ、そんな時にこそ「冒険家アドル」を見習いたいものだと思いました。PC88版イースⅠの取説にはこう書かれていました。
「彼の異郷の地に対する冒険心、探究心、そして憧れは相当なものだった」
らしいです。
そうか、とにかく「外に出る」ことだと。
自分の知らない土地に足を運び、人に会うことだと。
（そりゃあ、16歳ならそうだろうと。若いし体力もあるし、気力もあるんだから、我々とは違う…）

このブログの読者のほとんどは、おそらくまだアドル晩年の年頃には達していない方だと思います。
38年もの間、多くの人を魅了してきたアドル=クリスティン、その生き様が我々にも勇気を与えてくれているからこそ、アドルは今も生き残っているのだと思いました。

Work's Habitat
Today was all about meetings. Lately, there are so many situations where “the proposal is the deciding factor.” It's all high-stakes, live-action meetings, and I often find myself in scenes that feel like a one-shot deal. Honestly, it makes me wonder if that's all that's needed anymore? I feel like most things in the world these days can easily be “replaced,” and looking around, I'm painfully aware that the “habitat” for work is shrinking day by day. While things are manageable now, I often wonder how many industries will still be in this state three to five years from now.
Following the Example of an Unparalleled Adventurer
Yet, precisely in times like these, I find myself wanting to emulate “Adol the Adventurer.” The PC-88 manual stated:
“His spirit of adventure, his curiosity, and his yearning for foreign lands were truly remarkable.”
Apparently.
Ah, so it's all about “going out there,” then.
About setting foot in places you don't know and meeting people.
(Well, of course he would at 16. He's young, full of energy, and has the drive... he's different from us...)

Adol Christin was a “rare adventurer” who kept at it until he was “63 years old.”
Most readers of this blog probably haven't even reached the age Adol was in his later years yet.
I think Adol Christin, who captivated so many people for 38 years, survives because his way of life gives us courage too.
