今日はワンダラーズフロムイースの「予感=スティクス」を聴きながら作業をしていました。イース フェルガナの誓い jdkスペシャルバージョンです。あの曲わりと地味な感じだけど、ものすご〜〜く染み入りますね…（お陰様でメチャクチャ捗りました）
ニルスの不思議な旅？
ところで、学生時代は「ワンダラーズフロムイース」の「ワンダラーズ」って何？と、思っていました。当時はネットとかもまだ普及していないので、特に調べもせず「なんとなく」なイメージで勝手に理解していました。
幼少期の頃は「ニルスの不思議な旅」というアニメが大好きで、そのイメージに引っ張られていたせいか「ワンダー（不思議）」の類語かなんかだと思い込み、
「イースの不思議な旅」
くらいにしか思っていませんでした（笑）

ワンダラーズの「ズ」
大人になってからはさすがに「イースからの放浪者」と理解したのですが、それでも「ワンダラーズ」の「ズ」に関しては、曖昧にしていました。
つい最近まで、あまり深く考えていなかったので、所有格の「's」（アポストロフィ付き）「～の」という意味だと思っていました。
たとえば「Men’s（メンズ）」とか「Ladies’（レディース）」とかみたいな感じです。「放浪者の〜」みたいに捉えていました。

（もう、本当にすみません）ゲームタイトルのアルファベット表記をみても「アポストロフィ」は付いていない。そうか、これは所有格の「’s」ではなく、複数形の「S」なのか、と。だとすると・・・「あ！ドギか」と今更気づきました（笑）

壁パンチで心を鷲掴み
え？ドギって、タイトルにも引用されてしまうくらいに昇格したのか？と。今でこそ不動の「相棒枠」かもしれないけど、当時の知名度で故郷に帰ってきたからといってタイトル名に入ってしまうとは・・・やはり、最初の「壁パンチ」でファンの心を鷲掴みにしたのが大きかったのでしょうか？改めて「恐るべしドギ」と感じました。
共に戦う冒険家の一人
とはいえ、すぐに自分の浅はかさに気づきました。
物語の途中では、またもやドギに助けられていますし、エンディングのラストもドギと一緒です。アドルと共に戦う「冒険家の一人」であり「ワンダラーズ」の一人なのだと、再認識したのでした…チャンチャン（おしまい）

Today I worked while listening to “Premonition = Styx” from Wanderers from Ys. It's the Ys: The Oath in Felghana jdk Special Version. That song feels pretty understated, but it really sinks in deep... (Thanks to that, I got a ton done!)
Nils' Wonderful Journey?
By the way, back in my student days, I used to wonder, “What does ‘Wanderers’ mean in ‘Wanderers from Ys’?” Since the internet wasn't widespread back then, I didn't bother looking it up and just went with a vague, “I guess it means something like ‘wanderers’ or ‘travelers’?” kind of understanding.
When I was little, I loved the anime “Nils' Wonderful Journey,” and maybe because that image stuck with me, I convinced myself it was something like a synonym for ‘wonder’ or “mystery,”
so I just thought it meant something like
“Ys' Wonderful Journey” (laugh)

The “Z” in Wanderers
As an adult, I finally understood it as “Wanderers from Ys,” but I still kept the meaning of the ‘Z’ in “Wanderers” vague.
Until very recently, I hadn't thought about it deeply, so I assumed it was the possessive “'s” (with an apostrophe), meaning “of ~.”
Like “Men's” or “Ladies'”. I thought of it as “the Wanderer's ~”.

It's DOGI, isn't it?
(Seriously, I'm so sorry) Looking at the alphabetical spelling of the game title, there's no apostrophe. Oh, so it's not the possessive “'s”, but the plural ‘S’? If that's the case... “Ah! DOGI!” I just realized now (laughs)
Wall punch grabbed my heart
Huh? Did Dogi get promoted enough to be quoted in the title itself? Sure, he might be an unshakable “partner slot” now, but back then, just because he returned home with his fame, he got put in the title name...? Was it really that big of a deal that his first “Wall Punch” grabbed fans' hearts? I felt “Fear the Dogi” all over again.

Adol is saved by Dogi again midway through the story, and the final scene of the ending is with Dogi too. I was reminded once more that he is one of the adventurers fighting alongside him, one of the “Wanderers”... Ta-da! (The End)
