まいど。八刻堂のハチでございます。最近、SNSでしばしば「羽衣イース」といったワードをよくみかけるようになったので、全巻買ってみた。その感想を少しだけ語ってみようと思う。
今の時代に必要なスパイス
まずあれだ。「羽衣イース」の名称は、作者である「羽衣 翔」さんのお名前にちなんでそう呼ばれているらしい。
角川書店の月刊コンプティークで連載していたというから、もしかしたら昔読んだかも？と、思った。
いや、そんなことより今日一番伝えたいのは、この作品の「画のエネルギー」について触れてみたい。
何かが違う。
なんだろう？
言語化してみたらこんな感じだった。
「1カットごとのエネルギーが強い」
「勢いをすごく感じる」
「緩急がハッキリしている」
見方を変えると、エネルギーが強すぎて多少の胃もたれは起こすかもしれないが、なんかこう、令和の今の時代に必要なスパイスに感じた。
大阪芸術大学映像学科卒
なるほどなるほど、合点がいった。作者の経歴を調べたところ「大阪芸術大学映像学科卒」と書かれていた。
そりゃあカット割りも上手いはずだし、画のエネルギーも強いはずだ。
アマゾンとかの評価を読んでも比較的高評価が多かった印象。
作品の中身については、原作とは全く異なる内容で好き勝手な展開？をしていたと、ウィキペディアには書かれていた。
けど、もう何十年も前のことだし、今ほどいろいろうるさくない時代だったろうから、個人的には超絶ウェルカムな気持ちになった。
兎にも角にも「画のエネルギー」がすごい。言葉に言い表せない非常に強い魅力を感じた。
絵描きの一人として、とても良いエキスと糧を今日はいただいたように思う。

The Spice We Need Today
First off, the name “Hagoromo Ease” seems to come from the author's name, Hagoromo Sho.
Since it was serialized in Kadokawa's Monthly Compティーク, I wondered if I might have read it back in the day?
But honestly, what I really want to talk about today is the sheer “energy of the artwork” in this series.
Something feels different.
What is it?
Trying to put it into words, it feels like this:
“Each individual shot packs intense energy.”
“You really feel the momentum.”
“The pacing is sharply defined.”
Looking at it another way, the energy might be so strong it could cause a bit of indigestion, but somehow, it felt like the kind of spice we need in the Reiwa era today.
Graduated from Osaka University of Arts, Department of Film
Ah, I see. That makes sense. When I looked up the author's background, it said “Graduated from Osaka University of Arts, Department of Film.”
No wonder the shot composition is so skillful and the visual energy so potent.
Reading reviews on Amazon and elsewhere, I got the impression it received relatively high praise overall.
Regarding the content itself, Wikipedia mentioned it diverged completely from the original source material, taking a rather arbitrary direction?
But since it was decades ago, in an era less nitpicky than today, personally, I found it incredibly welcome.
Regardless, I felt an incredibly strong attraction to the sheer “energy of the visuals.”
As an artist myself, I feel like I received some truly excellent inspiration and nourishment today.
