まいど。八刻堂のハチでございます。新年度が明け、本日から新たなスタートです。ワーカホリックな生活を営んでいるせいか、1年の始まりは1月ではなく4月な感覚がいつもしています。騒がしい日常も少しずつ落ち着きを取り戻し、初心に返った気持ちで、新たな一歩を踏み出して行こうと思います。

木人のごとく
自分の中で「エステリアの木」は無の境地に戻してくれる貴重な存在です。他のキャラに比べて目立つこともなく、喋ることも動くこともできませんが、1つの人格的な存在としてそこにいます。彼は普段からあらゆる物事を見聞きし、雨の日も風の日も生き抜いています。誰からも注目はされないかもしれませんが、そばにいるとなんだか安心する。たとえるなら「木人」といった表現がふさわしいかもしれません。
木のふりみて我が振り直す
よくも悪くも忙しくなりすぎると、1つひとつの物事に対する接し方が雑になりがちになると感じることがあります。人から必要とされ過ぎると慢心してしまうと感じることもあります。そんな時こそブレーキが必要で、エステリアの木をみては「我が振り直そう」といった試みを最近しています。「動」の代表がキッキングチェスターや翼を持った少年だとするならば、「静」の代表はエステリアの木かシルバーソード辺りかもしれません（もしくはグーラン）。こうした「静」の存在にもありがたみを感じつつ、気持ちを新たにした4月1日なのでした。

Perhaps because I lead such a workaholic lifestyle, I always feel like the year starts in April rather than January. As the hustle and bustle of daily life gradually settles down, I intend to take a new step forward with a renewed sense of purpose.

Like a Wooden Man
To me, “Estelia’s Tree” is a precious presence that helps me return to a state of nothingness. Compared to other characters, it doesn’t stand out, and it can’t speak or move, but it exists there as a distinct personality. It observes and listens to everything around it, enduring through rain and wind. It may not attract anyone’s attention, but being near it somehow brings a sense of peace. If I had to describe it, the expression “wooden man” might be fitting.
Seeing the Tree, I Reflect on Myself
For better or worse, I sometimes feel that when I get too busy, my approach to each and every task tends to become sloppy. I also feel that being needed too much by others can lead to complacency. It is precisely at such times that I need to hit the brakes, and lately, I’ve been looking at the Tree of Esteria and making an effort to “reflect on myself.” If the representatives of “movement” are Kicking Chester or the winged boy, then the representatives of “stillness” might be the Estelia Tree or Silver Sword (or perhaps Guran). It was April 1st, a day when I felt renewed, appreciating the value of these “still” presences.
