まいど。八刻堂のハチでございます。今日は4gamerさんの「日本ファルコム創設者，加藤正幸氏 追悼企画：後編」を読んでました。こういう話、ほんと感動する。

永遠のアマチュア
さて、八刻堂のハチは、とにかくゲーム事業やグッズ分野に関しては「アマチュア」です。もちろん、関係会社やアドバイザーは、プロ中のプロの方ばかりなのでなんとか保てています。
今はディレクターとしてアサインさせてもらっているけど、思えば随分無茶なことをやってきたと思う。
そして、その時に支えになった加藤前会長（日本ファルコム創業者）の言葉が「僕らは、永遠のアマチュアでいい」でした。
（新海誠監督は、当時の加藤会長のこの言葉が、ずっと心に刺さっているとか）
本当に良い言葉です。自分も同人活動でコミケに出展していたりもするのですが、まだ2回程度。だから同人界隈でもまだまだアマチュアです。（お手伝い入れて3回くらい）
今だから言えるけど、そのくらいのノリだったからこそ「日本ファルコムの高き門を叩けた」という背景があります。
#まじめに検討していたら門なんか怖くて叩けない
スーツにネクタイで訪問
そんな状況だったから、はじめて日本ファルコムの本社に伺ったときは、7月だったにもかかわらず「スーツにネクタイ」で行きました。暑かったけど、到着したら社員のみなさまは「ノーネクタイ」でした（笑）
#そりゃ、そうだ。
でもね、それくらいビビっていました。ファルコムは「ミステリアス」な会社だったから、尚更ね。
今日は他愛もない話で終わってしまったけど、ここまでにしたいと思います。（明日も感想文の続きを書こうかな）

Hey there. Hachi from Hakkokudo here. Today I was reading 4Gamer's “Tribute to Masayuki Kato, Founder of Nihon Falcom: Part 2.” Stories like this really move me.

Eternal Amateur
Now then, Hachi of Hakokudō is, above all else, an “amateur” when it comes to the game business and merchandise. Of course, thanks to our affiliated companies and advisors—all professionals among professionals—we manage to hold our own.
I'm currently assigned as a director, but looking back, I realize I've done some pretty reckless things.
And the words that supported me during that time came from former Chairman Kato (founder of Nihon Falcom): “We're fine being eternal amateurs.”
(Director Makoto Shinkai mentioned that Chairman Kato's words from back then have stayed with him ever since.)
It's truly a wonderful phrase. I've also participated in doujin activities, exhibiting at Comiket, but only about twice. So even in the doujin scene, I'm still very much an amateur. (With helpers, maybe three times total.)
I can say this now, but it was precisely that kind of attitude that allowed me to “knock on the lofty door of Nihon Falcom.”

Visiting in Suit and Tie
Given that situation, when I first visited Nihon Falcom's headquarters, even though it was July, I went in a “suit and tie.” It was hot, but when I arrived, all the employees were “no tie.” (laugh)

But seriously, I was that nervous. Falcom was such a “mysterious” company, which only added to it.
Today's story ended up being pretty trivial, but I'll wrap it up here. (Maybe I'll continue my impressions tomorrow?)
