さて、今日は「1ドットへのこだわり」というテーマを扱ってみたいと思います。
ロダの樹のドット絵
おそらくPC88ドット絵の「ロダの樹」を商品化したのは、数あるライセンシーの中でも八刻堂が「初」ではないかと思われます。そんな私たち制作陣のこだわりを少しお伝えさせていただきます。
デザインの一部が欠けている？
ヘッダー画像をご覧ください。こちらは商品化されたロダの樹ドット絵イラストの「シルエット」になります。注目ポイントは「赤丸」部分です。何か気付いたことはありませんか？
「あれ？もしかして、一部欠けている？」
そう思われた方もいるかもしれません。
シルエットでみると、一見欠けたようにも見えるのですが、じつは色がつくとそうでもありません。
というのも、
「斜め上から見たアングル（角度）」
のため、左側の赤丸は「木の根元」だったり、右側の赤丸は「葉（郡）の塊」を囲った隙間だったりするので、必ずしも欠けているわけではないのです。

下部の突起部分は削除
とはいえ、
すべてを忠実に再現すると
「物理的」
「見た目」
におかしな部分もでてきます。
それが中央下部の赤丸で囲った
「突起部分」です。
この箇所も「木の根本」を表していますが、同じく「斜め上から見たアングル」のため、アクスタのように「正面から見た商品」の場合、3ドットも飛び出ていると明らかに違和感が出てしまいます。
忠実な再現と商品性の間（はざま）
このようにドット絵の「忠実な再現と商品性の間（はざま）」で右往左往しながら最適解を模索しつつ、商品化されたのでした。

Anyway, today I'd like to tackle the theme of “Obsession with a Single Dot.”
Roda Tree Pixel Art
Among all the licensees, Hakokudou is likely the first to commercialize the PC-88 pixel art “Roda Tree.” Let me share a bit about our team's dedication.
Is Part of the Design Missing?
Take a look at the header image. This is the “silhouette” of the commercialized Roda no Ki dot art illustration. The key point is the “red circle” area. Did you notice anything?
“Huh? Is part of it missing?”
Some of you might have thought that.
At first glance, the silhouette might seem incomplete, but it actually isn't once colored.
The reason is,
it's an “angle viewed from diagonally above.”
The red circle on the left represents the “base of the tree,” and the red circle on the right is the black outline surrounding a “cluster of leaves.” So, it's not necessarily missing.

Lower protrusions removed
That said,
reproducing everything faithfully
would introduce
“physical”
“visual”
inconsistencies.
This is the
“protruding part”
circled in red at the bottom center.
This area also represents the “base of the tree,” but again, due to the “angle viewed from above at an angle,” having three dots protruding like this would clearly look out of place on a product viewed head-on, like an acrylic stand.
The Tension Between Faithful Reproduction and Marketability
Thus, navigating this tension between faithful reproduction and marketability in pixel art, we sought the optimal solution while developing the product.
