まいど。八刻堂のハチでございます。今日は久しぶりにレトロゲームのファンアート（イラスト）を沢山描きました。年度末・年度始の疲れを癒すのに、これほどまでに効果的な術（すべ）を自分は他に知りません。

より一層「アナログ画」に寄せる
さて、今日はオフ日ということで、ブログ内容もオフ的な記事にしたいと思います。突然ですが、自分はプライベートでは「絵描き」を名乗っています。デジタル画もアナログ画もどちらも描きます。ただ、最近は以前よりも「アナログ画」に気持ちが寄っています。理由はさまざまですが、一番大きな理由は「人間味」や「人間らしさ」の希少価値が相対的に高まっていると感じるからです。

「手垢」ですら絵の一部とする
たとえば「鉛筆画」を例にお伝えすると、鉛筆タッチのデジタル画も世の中には沢山あったりします。実際、自分もさまざまな筆パターンのデジタルツールを持っています。ただ、デジタルツールでは「手垢（鉛筆の芯が手についた汚れ）」まではなかなか再現ができません。将来的にはできるかもしれませんが、自然な手垢まではなかなか難しいはずです（笑）

「いや別に、そもそも手垢なんて付けたくないし」
と、思われた方、
「ごもっともです（苦笑）」
ただ、1つだけ付け加えさせてください。
紙に薄く付いた「手垢」は練りゴムで消したりすると、綺麗なハイライトと柔らかな温かみのあるトーンに分かれて、とても美しい表現ができるんです。
しかも、手垢には濃淡があります。まるで水彩画の筆で描いたような濃淡です。
「右利きか」
「左利きか」
「右から描くか」
「左から描くか」
「上から描くか」
「下から描くか」
によっても、手垢の付き方が異なります。
これらを意識的に取り入れると、デジタルツールでは決して真似のできない唯一無二の「アナログ画」が誕生します。

Moving even closer to “analog art”
Well, since today is my day off, I’d like to keep this blog post light and casual. This might come out of the blue, but in my personal life, I call myself an “artist.” I create both digital and analog art. However, lately, I’ve been leaning more toward “analog art” than before. There are various reasons for this, but the biggest one is that I feel the relative value of “humanity” and “human-like qualities” is becoming increasingly rare.
#I believe art and creativity have rare value
Treating even “fingerprints” as part of the artwork
Take “pencil drawings” as an example. There are plenty of digital drawings out there that mimic pencil strokes. In fact, I myself have various digital tools with different brush patterns. However, digital tools simply can’t quite reproduce “fingerprints” (the smudges left by pencil lead on your hands). Maybe it’ll be possible in the future, but achieving natural-looking fingerprints is still quite a challenge (laughs)

“Well, honestly, I don’t even want to get fingerprints on it in the first place.”
If that’s what you’re thinking,
“You’re absolutely right (wry smile).”
But let me just add one thing.
When you erase the faint “finger smudges” on paper with a kneaded eraser, they break apart into beautiful highlights and soft, warm tones, creating a truly stunning effect.
What’s more, finger smudges have varying shades of light and dark—just like the gradations you’d see in a watercolor painting.
“Are you right-handed?”
“Or left-handed?”
“Do you draw from the right?”
“Or from the left?”
“Do you draw from the top?”
“Or from the bottom?”
The way fingerprints appear varies depending on these factors.
If you consciously incorporate these as a “technique,” you’ll create a one-of-a-kind “analog drawing” that digital tools can never replicate.
